How to create a GEDCOM

Here we provide sample instructions on how to create a GEDCOM file containing your genealogy. The instructions provided are for Personal Ancestral File (PAF) and Legacy Family Tree. Dont worry if you have one of these programs, usually the help files provided with your genealogy program will tell you how to create a GEDCOM.

General Instructions

Usually to create a GEDCOM you select an Export option which is often found in the File menu.
Make sure your GEDCOM:

• Contains all the individuals you want on your chart. Including extra people is fine. Often the default is to include all people.
• Is saved in a location on your computer that you will remember. You will need to locate this file later to use OnePage Genealogy.
